Aperture 3 Tutorial // Better Black & White

Let's face it.. the ability to make BW images in Aperture 3 is a bit lacking. My hope was, when the update to aperture 3 came out, that we would see better control in the app to really fine tune our images. While on the surface it seems that we don't have that control, I accidentally found where it was hiding... in the color brick of all places. So without hesitation I made the tutorial below to not only explain how to gain better control when adjusting your BW images, but I also threw in a few other tips to really help your BW sing. Enjoy!

Did this video tutorial help you?

I enjoy making these Aperture tutorials and will continue to do so to the best of my ability. With that said, I am looking towards the future and see the need to extend and grow what I can offer. If you like the videos that I have been providing, please consider a donation to help me make them better. If you prefer not to donate that will in no way impact future tutorials.

This is NOT required nor is it in any way going to be tied to any other part of my site. Any donations supplied will be used for the sole purpose of helping me create better tutorials for my fellow Aperture users. The rest of my site will remain as it has been and this information and the donation button will only be available after a video tutorial. Thanks -Nate

Curious if you ever use(d) Silver Efex Pro for B&W?

If so, do you think it's worth getting?

Thanks.

Lawrence - Yes I have used it and in fact it is the main way that I convert images to BW. I prefer SFXP2 since it offers a ton of options over doing BW in aperture to tell the truth. Sometimes though, if I just need a quick conversion then I will use aperture. I would HIGHLY recommend all of Nik's products and especially SEFXP2!

Thanks for stopping by the blog! :D
